From Blooms And Bugs studio...more Belle skirts

Now that I have been paying a little more attention to my etsy shop, I see that the orders are also trickling in.
This is the second order of this Belle Layered skirt, it was a record of sorts. This skirt got sold within 5 minutes of my listing it..Yaay! It got shipped yesterday.

Along with this...

all wrapped up.
I'm now paying attention to what my customers are telling me and making some more combos of these skirts.

So Sweet Headband Tutorial

I posted this tutorial as a guest post over at Train To Crazy. Re-posting it here in case you missed it first time around.

I made this So Sweet Headband for my daughter for the Valentines Day. Here's what you need to make one for your sweetie:

Supplies:

• 1/4 inch wide red elastic - 12.5 inches
• Hot pink felt - 3 inch square ( cut a heart shape from this, the heart I cut was about 2 inches)
• White Felt - 4 inch square ( cut a heart shape bigger than the pink one from this, the heart I cut was about 2.5 inches )
• Small white button - 1
• Threads - Red and White

1.

Sew both the ends of elastic together by overlapping them half an inch. Reinforce his seam by sewing multiple times. I used a very narrow and small zigzag for extra strength. Don't worry if it looks shabby at this point, it will be concealed later on.

Place the bigger white heart beneath the joint in the headband.

Place the smaller pink heart over the headband such that the joint gets sandwiched between the two hearts.

Place a small white button on top of all the layers such that it sits on the headband. Hand-sew the button in place by inserting the thread through all the layers and going from one hole to the other multiple times.


5.

Sew running stitches with white thread along the boundary of smaller heart.


6.

Sew running stitches with Red/Pink thread along the boundary of bigger heart.

7.

And you're done! Now go put it on the cutest kid around.

Painted Gift Tins!

My mom received a huge stash of those Christmas cookie, treat tins from a friend awhile back...

It was actually her idea to paint the tins and add some vinyl cut outs to fancy them up!

(Obviously where we get a lot of our craftiness from, thanks Mom!!!)

We laid them all out on some newspaper outside and spray painted each tin with a couple of coats. 

We used a few different colors and let them dry really well... 

Once the tins are painted and dry, it's time to embellish. 

I made this small light pink tin into a birthday gift 'wrap' for my niece.

I used white vinyl cut out in her name and some flowers plus little acrylic diamonds to pretty it up. 

If you use the sticky back vinyl you can stick the cutouts on just like stickers.

The little jewels were attached with hot glue. 

If you don't have sticky backed vinyl, you can just use regular stickers too! ;)

I filled the tin with several little treats tied it with a ribbon and gave it as it was to our niece. 

She loved having her own little tin she could fill with her treasures! 

We have since made several of these for different gifts... You can use any shape or size of tin and decorate with paint, vinyl, stickers, anything you have on hand to fancy it up!

More orange, more stripes, More sewing

I made this bias cut jumper for the little one last week, it was a quick and easy project and I'm loving this jumper. Its a super soft blended cotton knit which drapes beautifully. I added these little orange flowers as embellishments and a grosgrain bow at the top.

The jumper was looking a little lonely by itself, so made these ruffled leggings to go with it. Munchkin wore these to the mall yesterday and she was looking like a mini fashionista.
I have stashed a good amount of these drapey striped knits in various colors and I'm having fun playing around with these.

Sail Away Skirt

I have been sewing quite a bit these days. Too much sewing = Too little blogging, in case you were wondering.
Three types of orangey, stripey knits came together to make this skirt. The little bow at the waistband ties it all together. I think it looks cute...what do you think?
